How to go to the apartments
To Athenian apartment

OPTIONS:
A) From Athens Airport you can take the metro (3 line or blue line towards Agia Marina) and get off at Ampelokipi Metro Station (30 minutes ride). Then you can walk 10 ' to get to the apartment or you can take the local blue bus A7 or B5 or yellow-trolley bus 18 or 19 towards Pedion Areos and get off at Hippocratus bus stop. Then it takes 2 minutes to get to the apt on foot. Or you can take a taxi from Ampelokipi Metro station to get to the apartment. It takes 2-3 minutes.

B) You can take a taxi from the taxi station of the airport if your luggage is very heavy. So you can go directly to the apartment. Taxi fixed price: 38-40 Euros (including airport taxes, luggage fee and tolls fee)

C) We can arrange a pick up from the airport after your arrival and/or transfer to the airport the day of your departure. Our people will welcome you by holding a label with your name and take you to the apartment directly. Extra charge in reasonable price. We need to be informed in advance about your arrival and/or departure time.

To Xylokastro Apartment

OPTIONS:
A) 
From Athens Airport by Airport BUS X93 to Bus Terminal KTEL KIFISSOU. It takes 60 minutes to reach the bus terminal.  Then buy your ticket: One way ticket costs 12 Euros per person and Return ticket costs 20 Euros per person. It takes 2 hours to reach Xylokastro.  Get off at Xylokastro bus terminal station. Walk 3 minutes to reach the apartment.

B) From Athens Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" DIRECTLY to Xylokastro town by suburban train in less than 2 hours. Change train at Kiato and get off at Xylokastro  Train Station. Then take a taxi to reach the apartment.

C) By car from Athens Airport in 1,5 hour. You can rent a car from Car Rental Companies at the airport.

Xylokastro is twin city with Furth district of Northern Bavaria in Germany. In Furth today there is a street/square called Xylokastro platz.


Information


Population of Xylokastro town and the surrounding area is approximately 8.000. Xylokastro is a coastal town and one of the oldest summer destinations in Greece. 
Xylokastro is considered the "Diamond of Corinthian Gulf". Its name derived from the Wooden Castle-military campus that was built approximately in 1260. 
Xylokastro= Xylo (Wood)+ kastro (Castle)---> Wooden Castle

In 18th and 19th centuries the trade of the local product of raisin (dried grape) was well developed. Corinthian raisin is one of the most popular Greek products in all over the world. 

Since 1919, Xylokastro was established as a popular international tourist destination. Many tourists from France, Italy and Germany enjoyed their summer vacation in the town and especially close to "Pefkias" (Pine-tree Forest). The European high society, politicians, kings, and authors/poets visited Xylokastro in 20th century.

Attractions
  • Pefkias (Pine-tree Forest including 83 species of plants, trails, cafe-restaurants, and the small Church of St. Barbara)
  • St. Vlasios Church, built in 1908-1910 following the Byzantine style
  • Church of Holy Mother was built in 1965-1970 and it is the only one in Greece that has followed the Old Christian Style in building (300-600 A.D.)
  • Church of St. Gerasimos was built in 1620 and it has icons made by the most famous Greek iconographer named Photis Kontoglou.
  • Monastery of Holy Mother (or Panagia) at the mountain peak
  • Villa of Aggelos Sikelianos (famous Greek poet). This summer house was made of stone by local workers. The poet had lived there with his American first wife Eva Palmer through 1930.
  • Marina of 320 positions for fishing boats and yachts 
  • Mansion of George Krinakos was built in 1870-1880 and today the City Hall of the town is housed there.
  • Open-air Theater "Vasilis Georgiadis" of 650 seats
  • Arena for football
  • Gym and athletic places for tennis and beach-voley
  • Kamari Village is close by and it has a beautiful Folk Art-Culture Museum
  • Two open-air cinemas called Electra and Avlea.

Surrounding area to visit

Kiato or ancient Sykyon city, Loutraki (with popular Casino), ancient and modern city of Corinth, Acrocorinthos, Nemea (every 4th year the Nemean Games have held to reborn the ancient Games), Trikala (beautiful especially in the winter including ski resort), Stymfalia (lake since ancient times) and more.

Archaeological Sites of Corinthia Province

- Ancient Corinth: Going there by local bus. The city was first inhabited during the Neolithic Era. Today the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, Agora, Theater, Odeon, and the Temple of Octavia are survived. In ancient times, it was the largest commercial destination in Peloponnese. The residents of ancient Corinth established colonies in Syracuse. 

- Nemea: It is the town of myths and legent such as Hercules. Nemean Games were held there every fourth year. Today you can visit the ruins of a large temple and you can take a Wine Tour. Nemean wine and raisin are popular in all over the world. 

- Lake Stymfalia: Stymfalia was also the name of a town where the first resident was Stymfalos. The town belonged to Arcadians. It was popular because of Hercules. Today there is a fish called Phoxinellus Stymfalicious and it is the only one that can survive in that lake when it is dry in the summertime. This fish is covered with mud.

- Heraion: 15 km nortwest of Ancient Corinth. It is called Heraion because of the Temple of Hera. The excavations brought to light the early Corinthian civilization.

- Ancient town of Pheneos: First settlers were Pelasgeans. In 1900 B.C., the area was inhabited by Arcadians and in 1500 B.C. by Achaeans who created the Mycenaean center of Pheneos. They participated in the Trojan War with sixty soldiers. Today the new town of Pheneos including a large valley is located at the top of the mountain Zeria. This mountain is also popular because in the winter time it is a great place to enjoy the snow and the magnificent landscape.
