HOW TO GO FROM OUR APARTMENT TO ATHENS ATTRACTIONS

- You can buy your pass-ticket from metro stations or from convenience stores or from the bus ticket booths.
- City Bus: ticket-pass costs 1.40 Euros per person and half price for people over 65.

- You can use the same city ticket for 1 hour and 30 minutes and change transportation (bus or yellow trolley or metro or tram).
FROM ATHENS AIRPORT TO OUR APARTMENT: 3 OPTIONS
1. By Airport Blue Bus X95 towards Syntagma Square and get off at Ampelokipi Square bus stop. It takes 40-45 minutes to get to Ampelokipi Square bus stop. Buy the ticket first from ticket booth. One way ticket costs 6 Euros per person. Then walk back 2 minutes and go across Alexandras Avenue. You can walk to the apartment. It is 12-14 minutes walking distance. Or you can take a taxi. It takes 3 minutes by taxi. There is a bus-yellow trolley stop on Alexandras Avenue. You can take the yellow trolley 14 or 18 or 19 towards Pedion Areos and get off at Hippocratus bus stop. Then walk back one block and you will find the street where our apartment is located. It is 2 minutes walking distance from this bus stop.
2. By Metro, blue line towards Syntagma Square and get off at Ampelokipi Metro Station. It takes 30 minutes to get to Ampelokipi Metro station. Buy your ticket first. It costs 10 Euros. Follow the EXIT Alexandras Avenue-Panormou street. You can walk to the apartment. It is 10-12 minutes walking distance to reach our apartment. Or you can take a taxi and go to the apartment in 3 minutes. Or you can take the blue bus A7 or B5 or yellow trolley 14 or 18 or 19 towards Pedion Areos and get off at Hippocratus bus stop. Then walk back one block and you will reach the street where our apartment is located. It takes 2 minutes to go to our apartment from this bus stop.
3. By taxi from airport to the apartment. It takes approximately 20-30 minutes to reach the apartment depending on the traffic.

FROM APARTMENT TO NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF ATHENS
Walk 2 minutes to Hippocratus bus stop on Alexandras Avenue and towards Pedion Areos. Take the yellow trolley 18 or 19 or 14 and get off at the last stop by the left side of the Museum. The ride takes almost 8 minutes. Then walk back 1 minute to reach the left side entrance of the Museum Garden. Walk 1 minute and you will see the main entrance of the National Archaeological Museum.
Or you can go on foot to the Museum in 20-25 minutes. On the way back, you can take the same yellow trolley 18 or 19 and get off at Hippocratus bus stop. Then go across Alexandras Avenue at the corner where the lights are. You will see the street where our apartment is located.
FROM APARTMENT TO DOWNTOWN
a. You can go on foot in 20-25 minutes. Exit our building, turn left and go straight ahead on our street (go across Alexandras Avenue) and continue walking straight ahead. When you will reach the end of this street, you will be in the heart of Athens and by the National Library (right hand) and University (left hand). Trilogy Neo-Classical Buildings of 19th century include the National Library, the University and the Academy.
They are located on Panepistimiou street. When you turn left and walk on Panepistimiou street, you will reach Syntagma Square in 7 minutes. It is a safe area. Greek Parliament is across Syntagma Square (Constitution Square). When you turn right and walk on Panepistimiou street, you will reach Omonoia Square (Union Square), not very safe area.
b. You can go to Ampelokipi Metro station and take the blue line, 2nd level towards Agia Marina (St. Marina). Get off at Syntagma Square Metro station to reach downtown. Then you can reach Plaka in 4 minutes or walk on Panepistimiou street with the Trilogy Buildings, or walk on Ermou street (fashion district) or walk on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue with Theocharakis Foundation-Gallery, Benaki Museum and Cycladic Museum (Queen Sophia Av.) and then turn left on Sekeri street to reach Kolonaki area (fashion district and full of restaurants, cafe and bars). Or get off at Monastiraki Metro station. Exit and walk on Hephaestou street (the starting point of flea market) or on Pandrosou street (full of tourist and gift shops) or on Ermou street towards the open air flea market or walk towards the ancient Agora. Around Monastiraki area, there is a great variety of restaurants, ice-cream and yogurt stores.
FROM APARTMENT TO ACROPOLIS
a. Exit our building, turn left and go straight ahead to reach Alexandras Avenue. Turn left on Alexandras Av. and walk 2 minutes to reach the bus stop on your left hand. Take the blue bus 230 to Acropolis and get off at the last bus stop that is located across Acropolis Hill.
b. Or you can take the metro from Ampelokipi metro station towards Agia Marina and get off at Syntagma Square. Go up one level to reach the red metro line towards Hellinikon. Take the metro and get off at the next station that is called Acropolis Metro station. Follow the EXIT Makrygianni and walk 1 minute, turn left to reach the New Museum of the Acropolis. Or walk 1 minute and turn right to reach the main entrance of Acropolis hill. You will buy your ticket first. It is suggested to buy your ticket online and print it out in advance.
FROM APARTMENT TO MUSEUM OF ANCIENT GREEK TECHNOLOGY
The Museum of Ancient Greek Technology-Kotsanas is located on 6 Pindarou street & Academias street and in 5 minutes walking distance from Syntagma Square. The exhibition called "The High-Tech Inventions of Ancient Greeks" is housed in an Art Nouveau building that once belonged to the family of Queen Aspasia Manos, wife of King Alexander I. There is a great collection of 100 exhibits such as a robot-servant, the first cinema of Philon, the automotive puppet show of Heron, the hydraulic clock of Ktesivios and many more.
How to go there?
Take the metro from Ampelokipi metro station towards Agia Marina (blue line, 2nd level) and get off at Syntagma Square. Follow the Exit Panepistimiou and walk straight ahead on Panepistimiou street (or Eleftheriou Venizelou street). Reach the first lights, and go across the street. Walk straight ahead on Voukourestiou street towards Academias street and reach Academias street. Then turn right on Academias street and walk to reach the first corner (across the street) of Pindarou and Academias streets where the Museum is located.
Open: Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 19.00 in the evening and Saturday-Sunday from 9.00 am to 17.00 in early evening.
FROM APARTMENT TO THE NEW MUSEUM OF MODERN ART-VASILIS & ELISE GOULANDRIS
This is the NEW GEM in Athens! Opening Reception was held on 2 October 2019.
The Museum of Modern Art-Vasili and Elise Goulandris Foundation is located on 13 Eratosthenous street in Pagkrati neighbourhood.
It has 11 floors (5 upper levels and 6 lower levels), Cafe-Restaurant, Museum Shop, Galleries, Education Hall, Auditorium, Library etc.
Free shuttle bus has gone there 3 times per day, at 11.30 am, 14.30 and 17.00 starting from 4 Rizari street and stops at the intersection of Vasileos Kontantinou Avenue and Eratosthenous street.
How to go there?
Exit our building, turn left and walk towards Alexandras Avenue.
Go across Alexandras Av. and turn right to reach Hippocratus bus stop. Take the blue bus B5 or A7 or 230 or the yellow trolley 8 or 14 or 18 or 19 towards Ampelokipi. Get off at Ampelokipi Metro bus stop (on the 2nd bus stop). Walk on Alexandras Avenue towards Ampelopiki for about 3 minutes and you will see Ampelokipi Square on your right hand. Turn right and walk 2 minutes to reach the Ampelokipi Square bus stop (on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue-Queen Sophia Avenue).
Or from our apartment you can go to Ampelokipi Square on foot in 15 minutes.
You can take the blue bus 550 or yellow trolley 10 towards Phaliro from Ampelokipi Square bus stop. The ride takes almost 5-8 minutes. You will get off at Stadium bus stop. Then go across the Avenue and walk 5 minutes on Eratosthenous street. The Museum of Modern Art is within walking distance of 200 m. and next to Saint Spyridonas Church.
FROM APARTMENT TO SOUTH COASTAL ZONE OF ATHENS-MARINA FLOISVOS AND BENAKI TOY MUSEUM
You can go on foot in 15 minutes to Ampelokipi Square bus stop. Or by bus. At the corner of our street and Alexandras Avenue, you will go across Alexandras Av. and then turn right to reach Hippocratus bus stop. Take the blue bus A7 or B5 or 230 or yellow trolley 14 or 18 or 19 towards Kifissias Avenue and get off at Ampelokipi Metro station (on the 2nd bus stop). Then walk straight ahead on Alexandras Avenue for 2 minutes towards Ampelokipi to reach the park. At the end of Alexandras Avenue, turn right on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue and walk 1 minute to reach Ampelokipi Square bus stop. Take the blue bus 550 towards Phaliro and get off at the last bus stop. It takes 20 minutes to go to the south coastal zone of Athens. Then walk back half minute to reach the entrance of Marina Flisvos and enter. Enjoy a nice walk by the yachts and also enjoy your sea-food in one of the local restaurants. Or you can get off on Syggrou Avenue at Onassis Cultural Center or on Syggrou Av. at Stavros Niarchos Foundation-Cultural Center (full of indoor and outdoor activities).
It is highly recommended to visit the Benaki Toy Museum that is housed in an eclectic-style building dating from 1897-1900. The building's architecture combines Gothic, Baroque, and Art Nouveau style. The main collection of toys belonged to Mrs. Maria Argyriadi and it is one of the ten best toy collections in Europe today. It includes toys, books, ephemera, clothing and other items associated with childhood from Europe, Africa, Asia and the America. The European collection includes urban and folk toys, dolls, handmade toys, fairground, board games, and customary toys. Benaki Toy Museum is located on 14 Poseidon Avenue, Palaio Phaliro. It is open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10.00 to 18.00, tel. 212-6875280. They also have a great store.
On the way back, you need to take the blue bus 550 from the terminal bus stop and get off at Ampelokipi Square bus stop (located in front of Athenaion Cinema).
FROM APARTMENT TO LYCABETTUS HILL
a. On foot in 20 minutes by following the signs on Asclepiou street through Alexandras Avenue.
b. By taxi in 3 minutes.
c. By metro and get off at Evaggelismos Metro station (2nd station after Ampelokipi metro station). Follow the exit Evaggelismos Hospital and turn right to walk on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue (Queen Sophia Av.). At the 2nd corner, turn right on Ploutarhou street. Go straight ahead on Ploutarchou street. At the end of this street, you can take the cable car that goes up to the hill. It costs 7 Euros (returned ticket). Cable car departs every 15 minutes in summer and 30 minutes in winter and spring. At the top of Lycabettus Hill, you will have an amazing view of Athens, you will see the Church of St. George and a great restaurant-cafe on the side. There is also an open air theater for performances in summertime. The small Church of St. Isidorus is also located on the side of the hill.
FROM APARTMENT TO VORRES MUSEUM, PAIANIA, ATTICA
Vorres Museum is a hidden treasure full of Modern Greek Art and Folk Art that are presented in the 2 sections of the Museum. Educational programs are offered to children. Also contemporary art exhibitions are taken place in this Museum. The huge garden is considered the best garden in Athens because of the rich greenery and the local plants and herbs. Go on foot to Ampelokipi Metro station. Take the metro towards Airport and get off at Nomismatikopeio metro station. Exit and go to the terminal bus station. Take blue bus 125 to Varkiza or bus 308 to Paiania-Koropi and get off at the 1st bus stop Agia Triada. Walk 5 minutes to reach 1 Diadochou Constantinou street where is the main entrance of Vorres Museum.
b) Exit our building, turn left and walk on our street until you reach Alexandras Avenue. At the lights, go across Alexandras Avenue and then turn right to reach the bus stop towards Ampelokipi. Take the blue bus B7 to Agia Paraskevi and get off at bus stop Nomismatokopeio. Then go across the street to reach the terminal bus stop. Take the blue bus 125 or 308 and get off at the 1st bus stop Agia Triada. Walk 5 minutes to reach Vorres Museum.
FROM APARTMENT TO PARK ATTIKON ALSOS
Attikon Alsos is a huge park located on the boarders of the municipality of Athens, Galatsi and New Philothei. The park is full of green and has an open air theater, summer cinema, hiking trails, 2 play grounds, cafe, and areas for sports and athletic activities such as football, basketball, tennis and more. It covers an area of 55 hectares (550 stremmata).
You can go by bus in 20-25 minutes or by taxi in 8-10 minutes. From Hippocratus bus stop on Alexandras Avenue towards Pedion Areos, you will take blue bus B5 or A7 or yellow trolley 14 or 18 or 19 and get off at Pedion Areos bus stop, the last stop on Alexandras Avenue.Then go across 2 streets and find Patision Avenue. Turn right and walk 3 minutes to reach the bus stop. Take blue bus 622 and get off at the last bus stop to reach the Park. Then walk 2 minutes to reach the entrance of Attikon Alsos.
FROM APARTMENT TO PIRAEUS, LARGEST HARBOUR IN GREECE
It takes 20-30 minutes to go Piraeus by metro. 2 Options:
a. By Metro from Ampelokipi Metro station and get off at Monastiraki Metro station (on 4th station after Ampelokipi metro station). Then go up one level and take the green line towards Piraeus. Get off at the last metro station in Piraeus.
b. By bus A7 or B5 or yellow trolley 14 or 18 or 19 from Alexandras Avenue towards Pedion Areos (Hippocratus bus stop) and get off at Pedion Areos bus stop on Alexandras Avenue. Then go across 2 streets and find Patission Avenue. Turn right and walk 2 minutes. Then turn left on the 2nd street and you will reach Victoria Metro station. From there you will take the metro, green line towards Piraeus and get off at the last metro station.
Main attractions of Piraeus: Navy Museum (Akti Themistocleous, Freattida, tel. 210-4516822, Tuesday to Saturday, 9 am-14.00), Archaeological Museum, Church of Holy Trinity, Church of St. Nicholas, Marble Theater, City Hall of Piraeus, Mikrolimano (neighbourhood by the sea and full of sea-food restaurants and yachts), Foundation of Aikaterini Laskaridi (full of book and magazine collections, 36 2nd Merarchias Street, Akti Moutsopoulou, Piraeus), Catholic Church of St. Paul, Stadium of Peace and Friendship and more (at Phaliro Metro station). From Piraeus, you can take one day cruise to the islands of Hydra, Poros, and Aegina in Saronic Gulf.

Enjoying Cape Sounion and Temple of Poseidon by the sunset is a memorable experience. It takes almost 2 hours to reach Cape Sounion. It is located on the South-East end of Attica Province. You can go there by bus. First take the bus or yellow trolley (A7 or B5 or 14 or 18 or 19) from Hippocratus bus stop towards Pedion Areos and get off at Pedion Areos bus stop on Alexandras Avenue. From there, walk and turn right on Mavromataion Street. Walk straight ahead for 2 minutes and you will reach the Terminal Bus Station for Cape Sounion. Buy your ticket from the driver.
FROM APARTMENT TO ARISTOTLE'S PHILOSOPHY SCHOOL IN ATHENS
Aristotle was one of the greatest ancient Greek philosophers. He established the Lyceum, his Philosophy School in 335 B.C. and he had taught there through 323 B.C. His Lyceum was considered the Walking Philosophy School of Athens because philosophers and their students were walking and talking. In ancient times, the Lyceum was located between Heridanos and Ilissos rivers. Aristotle and his teachers had taught philosophy class in the morning and rhetoric class in the evening. Today the visitor can walk through the garden of Lyceum and can enjoy part of the ancient gym, public baths, the School, the library and reading room. From our Athenian apartment you can walk 10 minutes and take the metro from Ampelokipi metro station towards Agia Marina and in 2 minutes you will get off at Evaggelismos metro station (2nd station after Ampelokipi station). Exit at Rizari and walk straight ahead on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue (Queen Sophia Av.) towards Syntagma Square. Walk only 3 minutes and after passing the Byzantine Museum, you will see the entrance of Aristotle's Philosophy School. Enjoy your walk and the beautiful garden.
FROM APARTMENT TO GOULANDRIS NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, KIFISSIA
Kifissia is a prestigious suburb located North of Athens. It is full of green. It has a great park (Annual Flower Show), beautiful restaurants and coffee shops, and high class fashion stores. Goulandris Natural History Museum is a real treasure for locals and tourists. The Museum has housed the botanical collection, entomological collection, marine biology collection, mineral, paleontological, herpetology, ornithology, and mammals collections. The Museum has Gaia Centre, a nice coffee shop-restaurant, and a great shop. It has offered educational programs for children and more. 13 Levidou street, Kifissia, open from Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 14.30 in the afternoon (from 1st October). Saturday and Sunday, open from 10.00 am to 15.00 in the afternoon.
How to go there?
Exit our building, turn left and walk straight ahead to reach Alexandras Avenue. Go across the street, turn right and take the blue bus A7 (to Kifissia) from the bus stop on Alexandras Avenue. This bus connects Athens to Kifissia directly. It takes about 30-35 minutes to reach Kifissia. You will get off at Platanos Square bus stop. At the lights, go across the street. Levidou street is parallel to Kifissias Avenue. You will walk 5-6 minutes to reach the Natural History Museum.

FROM APARTMENT TO THE NEW MUSEUM OF MODERN ART-VASILIS & ELISE GOULANDRIS
This is the NEW GEM in Athens! Opening Reception was held on 2 October 2019.
The Museum of Modern Art-Vasili and Elise Goulandris Foundation is located on 13 Eratosthenous street in Pagkrati neighbourhood.
It has 11 floors (5 upper levels and 6 lower levels), Cafe-Restaurant, Museum Shop, Galleries, Education Hall, Auditorium, Library etc.
Free shuttle bus has gone there 3 times per day, at 11.30 am, 14.30 and 17.00 starting from 4 Rizari street and stops at the intersection of Vasileos Kontantinou Avenue and Eratosthenous street.
How to go there?
Exit our building, turn left and walk towards Alexandras Avenue.
Go across Alexandras Av. and turn right to reach Hippocratus bus stop. Take the blue bus B5 or A7 or 230 or the yellow trolley 8 or 14 or 18 or 19 towards Ampelokipi. Get off at Ampelokipi Metro bus stop (on the 2nd bus stop). Walk on Alexandras Avenue towards Ampelopiki for about 3 minutes and you will see Ampelokipi Square on your right hand. Turn right and walk 2 minutes to reach the Ampelokipi Square bus stop (on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue-Queen Sophia Avenue).
Or from our apartment you can go to Ampelokipi Square on foot in 15 minutes.
You can take the blue bus 550 or yellow trolley 10 towards Phaliro from Ampelokipi Square bus stop. The ride takes almost 5-8 minutes. You will get off at Stadium bus stop. Then go across the Avenue and walk 5 minutes on Eratosthenous street. The Museum of Modern Art is within walking distance of 200 m. and next to Saint Spyridonas Church.
FROM APARTMENT TO SOUTH COASTAL ZONE OF ATHENS-MARINA FLOISVOS AND BENAKI TOY MUSEUM
You can go on foot in 15 minutes to Ampelokipi Square bus stop. Or by bus. At the corner of our street and Alexandras Avenue, you will go across Alexandras Av. and then turn right to reach Hippocratus bus stop. Take the blue bus A7 or B5 or 230 or yellow trolley 14 or 18 or 19 towards Kifissias Avenue and get off at Ampelokipi Metro station (on the 2nd bus stop). Then walk straight ahead on Alexandras Avenue for 2 minutes towards Ampelokipi to reach the park. At the end of Alexandras Avenue, turn right on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue and walk 1 minute to reach Ampelokipi Square bus stop. Take the blue bus 550 towards Phaliro and get off at the last bus stop. It takes 20 minutes to go to the south coastal zone of Athens. Then walk back half minute to reach the entrance of Marina Flisvos and enter. Enjoy a nice walk by the yachts and also enjoy your sea-food in one of the local restaurants. Or you can get off on Syggrou Avenue at Onassis Cultural Center or on Syggrou Av. at Stavros Niarchos Foundation-Cultural Center (full of indoor and outdoor activities).
It is highly recommended to visit the Benaki Toy Museum that is housed in an eclectic-style building dating from 1897-1900. The building's architecture combines Gothic, Baroque, and Art Nouveau style. The main collection of toys belonged to Mrs. Maria Argyriadi and it is one of the ten best toy collections in Europe today. It includes toys, books, ephemera, clothing and other items associated with childhood from Europe, Africa, Asia and the America. The European collection includes urban and folk toys, dolls, handmade toys, fairground, board games, and customary toys. Benaki Toy Museum is located on 14 Poseidon Avenue, Palaio Phaliro. It is open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10.00 to 18.00, tel. 212-6875280. They also have a great store.
On the way back, you need to take the blue bus 550 from the terminal bus stop and get off at Ampelokipi Square bus stop (located in front of Athenaion Cinema).
FROM APARTMENT TO LYCABETTUS HILL
a. On foot in 20 minutes by following the signs on Asclepiou street through Alexandras Avenue.
b. By taxi in 3 minutes.
c. By metro and get off at Evaggelismos Metro station (2nd station after Ampelokipi metro station). Follow the exit Evaggelismos Hospital and turn right to walk on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue (Queen Sophia Av.). At the 2nd corner, turn right on Ploutarhou street. Go straight ahead on Ploutarchou street. At the end of this street, you can take the cable car that goes up to the hill. It costs 7 Euros (returned ticket). Cable car departs every 15 minutes in summer and 30 minutes in winter and spring. At the top of Lycabettus Hill, you will have an amazing view of Athens, you will see the Church of St. George and a great restaurant-cafe on the side. There is also an open air theater for performances in summertime. The small Church of St. Isidorus is also located on the side of the hill.
FROM APARTMENT TO VORRES MUSEUM, PAIANIA, ATTICA
Vorres Museum is a hidden treasure full of Modern Greek Art and Folk Art that are presented in the 2 sections of the Museum. Educational programs are offered to children. Also contemporary art exhibitions are taken place in this Museum. The huge garden is considered the best garden in Athens because of the rich greenery and the local plants and herbs. TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
a) Exit our building, turn left and walk on our street to reach Alexandras Avenue. Then turn left on Alexandras Av.
Go on foot to Ampelokipi Metro station. Take the metro towards Airport and get off at Nomismatikopeio metro station. Exit and go to the terminal bus station. Take blue bus 125 to Varkiza or bus 308 to Paiania-Koropi and get off at the 1st bus stop Agia Triada. Walk 5 minutes to reach 1 Diadochou Constantinou street where is the main entrance of Vorres Museum.
b) Exit our building, turn left and walk on our street until you reach Alexandras Avenue. At the lights, go across Alexandras Avenue and then turn right to reach the bus stop towards Ampelokipi. Take the blue bus B7 to Agia Paraskevi and get off at bus stop Nomismatokopeio. Then go across the street to reach the terminal bus stop. Take the blue bus 125 or 308 and get off at the 1st bus stop Agia Triada. Walk 5 minutes to reach Vorres Museum.
FROM APARTMENT TO PARK ATTIKON ALSOS
Attikon Alsos is a huge park located on the boarders of the municipality of Athens, Galatsi and New Philothei. The park is full of green and has an open air theater, summer cinema, hiking trails, 2 play grounds, cafe, and areas for sports and athletic activities such as football, basketball, tennis and more. It covers an area of 55 hectares (550 stremmata).
You can go by bus in 20-25 minutes or by taxi in 8-10 minutes. From Hippocratus bus stop on Alexandras Avenue towards Pedion Areos, you will take blue bus B5 or A7 or yellow trolley 14 or 18 or 19 and get off at Pedion Areos bus stop, the last stop on Alexandras Avenue.Then go across 2 streets and find Patision Avenue. Turn right and walk 3 minutes to reach the bus stop. Take blue bus 622 and get off at the last bus stop to reach the Park. Then walk 2 minutes to reach the entrance of Attikon Alsos.
FROM APARTMENT TO PIRAEUS, LARGEST HARBOUR IN GREECE
It takes 20-30 minutes to go Piraeus by metro. 2 Options:
a. By Metro from Ampelokipi Metro station and get off at Monastiraki Metro station (on 4th station after Ampelokipi metro station). Then go up one level and take the green line towards Piraeus. Get off at the last metro station in Piraeus.
b. By bus A7 or B5 or yellow trolley 14 or 18 or 19 from Alexandras Avenue towards Pedion Areos (Hippocratus bus stop) and get off at Pedion Areos bus stop on Alexandras Avenue. Then go across 2 streets and find Patission Avenue. Turn right and walk 2 minutes. Then turn left on the 2nd street and you will reach Victoria Metro station. From there you will take the metro, green line towards Piraeus and get off at the last metro station.
Main attractions of Piraeus: Navy Museum (Akti Themistocleous, Freattida, tel. 210-4516822, Tuesday to Saturday, 9 am-14.00), Archaeological Museum, Church of Holy Trinity, Church of St. Nicholas, Marble Theater, City Hall of Piraeus, Mikrolimano (neighbourhood by the sea and full of sea-food restaurants and yachts), Foundation of Aikaterini Laskaridi (full of book and magazine collections, 36 2nd Merarchias Street, Akti Moutsopoulou, Piraeus), Catholic Church of St. Paul, Stadium of Peace and Friendship and more (at Phaliro Metro station). From Piraeus, you can take one day cruise to the islands of Hydra, Poros, and Aegina in Saronic Gulf.
FROM APARTMENT TO CAPE SOUNION AND TEMPLE OF POSEIDON
Enjoying Cape Sounion and Temple of Poseidon by the sunset is a memorable experience. It takes almost 2 hours to reach Cape Sounion. It is located on the South-East end of Attica Province. You can go there by bus. First take the bus or yellow trolley (A7 or B5 or 14 or 18 or 19) from Hippocratus bus stop towards Pedion Areos and get off at Pedion Areos bus stop on Alexandras Avenue. From there, walk and turn right on Mavromataion Street. Walk straight ahead for 2 minutes and you will reach the Terminal Bus Station for Cape Sounion. Buy your ticket from the driver.
FROM APARTMENT TO ARISTOTLE'S PHILOSOPHY SCHOOL IN ATHENS
Aristotle was one of the greatest ancient Greek philosophers. He established the Lyceum, his Philosophy School in 335 B.C. and he had taught there through 323 B.C. His Lyceum was considered the Walking Philosophy School of Athens because philosophers and their students were walking and talking. In ancient times, the Lyceum was located between Heridanos and Ilissos rivers. Aristotle and his teachers had taught philosophy class in the morning and rhetoric class in the evening. Today the visitor can walk through the garden of Lyceum and can enjoy part of the ancient gym, public baths, the School, the library and reading room. From our Athenian apartment you can walk 10 minutes and take the metro from Ampelokipi metro station towards Agia Marina and in 2 minutes you will get off at Evaggelismos metro station (2nd station after Ampelokipi station). Exit at Rizari and walk straight ahead on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue (Queen Sophia Av.) towards Syntagma Square. Walk only 3 minutes and after passing the Byzantine Museum, you will see the entrance of Aristotle's Philosophy School. Enjoy your walk and the beautiful garden.
FROM APARTMENT TO GOULANDRIS NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, KIFISSIA
Kifissia is a prestigious suburb located North of Athens. It is full of green. It has a great park (Annual Flower Show), beautiful restaurants and coffee shops, and high class fashion stores. Goulandris Natural History Museum is a real treasure for locals and tourists. The Museum has housed the botanical collection, entomological collection, marine biology collection, mineral, paleontological, herpetology, ornithology, and mammals collections. The Museum has Gaia Centre, a nice coffee shop-restaurant, and a great shop. It has offered educational programs for children and more. 13 Levidou street, Kifissia, open from Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 14.30 in the afternoon (from 1st October). Saturday and Sunday, open from 10.00 am to 15.00 in the afternoon.
How to go there?
Exit our building, turn left and walk straight ahead to reach Alexandras Avenue. Go across the street, turn right and take the blue bus A7 (to Kifissia) from the bus stop on Alexandras Avenue. This bus connects Athens to Kifissia directly. It takes about 30-35 minutes to reach Kifissia. You will get off at Platanos Square bus stop. At the lights, go across the street. Levidou street is parallel to Kifissias Avenue. You will walk 5-6 minutes to reach the Natural History Museum.
